Only a few metres far from the coast in front of Cavallino seashore, at a depth between 15 and 40 metres, there's the wonderful submerged world of rocky emergences called the Tegnùe. In Italian, this word means "withheld", and is a term used by Venetian fishermen to indicate the place where nets would get stuck.

The Tegnùe are an actual reef, an ecosystem of irregular caves, galleries and rocks off the sandy coast of the high Adriatic.

They are different to tropical reefs because the main organisms that create them are not corals, but calcareous red algae. Scuba-diving is popular in this submerged oasis and allows you to discover an incredible habitat which houses rare and protected fauna.
